-Manawatu Knitting Mills is New Zealand’s leading producer and manufacturer of possum and merino knitwear.

-Manawatu Knitting Mills specialise in the design of knitwear using natural fibres, including cashmere, alpaca, angora, possum and merino, as well as superfine merino.

-These products are produced in New Zealand, and marketed and distributed through out the world. With leading edge technology, such as a recently installed computer design system, designs can be simulated to meet specific customer requirements then transferred directly to knitting machines.

-Technicians and designers travel regularly overseas in order to embrace the world’s best technology and design.


History


-Manawatu Knitting Mills was established in 1884, and is the oldest knitting mills in Australasia.

-Founded by John Stubbs –a pioneer immigrant to New Zealand-Manawatu Knitting Mills have been producing knitwear for over one hundred and twenty years.

-In 1896 the company was awarded the first prize for knitting excellence at the ‘Art and Industrial’ exhibition by New Zealand premiere Dick Seddon.

-During the last century, Manawatu Knitting Mills has grown from a modest producer of hosiery and knitwear, to one of the largest, and most successful knitwear manufacturers within New Zealand.

Today Manawatu Knitting Mills uses leading edge technology to create the most versatile and outstanding products within the knitwear industry.  This technology includes whole garmnet Machinery, CAD CAM design systems and 3D shaping capability to develop and design unique knitwear products, which are sold worldwide.
